Your Job
The following are tidbit tips from experienced players specific to particular jobs. If I don't have something for YOUR job yet, rest assured I'm trying hard to find someone to fill that space!!!
PALADIN
I found this while researching and think it's a very helpful guide. Let me know how to improve it you Pallys!!:These are mainly tips for non-Main tank.
1) Try to split up your provoke, flash, and any other single-target hate generating moves across several targets. Unless the pull is small enough, and there are sufficient PLDs to cover each target, mobs that are not grabbed by PLDs (or NINs if there are any) will go directly after the mages once they wake up. This can not happen. A dead mage is ineffective, and will very likely die again while weakened and attempting to help with mob control.
2) Keep non-WHM mobs in a fairly tight group. Sleepga does have a limited range, so keeping everything in a close group helps prevent multiple mages from having to split up and target their sleepgas across several groups.
3) If it's at all possible, when there are 2 or more WHM creatures, try to split them up far enough so that they are out of each others' Benediction range.
4) Hecteyes as BST pets. DEFINITELY keep these hecteyes right next to each other. Try to help the BRDs bunch them up so a single BRD can just Horde Lullaby once for each time they wake up. This will be very important for San d'Oria runs.
5) SMN enemies: If the LS can spare a PLD, and you're that PLD, provoke the summon and get the hell away from the rest of the LS! We may have problems with SMNs blowing their wad all over us, and it's not pretty. It's obviously better to have 1 PLD dead, than 36 people dead.
6) MNK enemies: This can be mixed. MNKs are normally mixed in with several other mob types, especially during Xarcabard runs. Despite this, if at all possible, have one PLD concentrate everything they have on one MNK. Having a 1:1 ratio ensures that the PLD will be ready with Sentinel when the MNK blows its 2hr as the LS fights it. HOWEVER, if you're split between a MNK or 2 or 3 other mobs, try to keep the other mobs' attention until the LS targets your MNK, then throw all you've got into the MNK. Use Invincible as necessary (unless you know you'll be one of the PLDs targetting DL in a Xarcabard run). Speaking of which:
7) Invincible. If it's not a Xarcabard run (or if it is and you know you won't be one of the PLDs targetting DL), try to gauge your pt's strength (are your healers out of mp? Is the other PLD dead? Are all the other PLDs in the LS dead?) and FEEL FREE TO USE YOUR 2HR. There's no point in holding your 2hr if you know you won't need it later.
REDMAGE
I'm going to try and give a few tips for the RedMage's job priorities in Dynamis. Keep in mind that the RedMage's role ANYWHERE can vary depending on circumstances. There are several roles I've experienced in various Dynamis'. I'll list them here so you won't be surprised too much if you are asked to play one of them some day:Tank Party RDM/WHM: Usually, this is an RDM with Phalanx II capped for obvious reasons. He/She willl need to concentrate entirely on the Tank party. Your duties will be:
* Refresh self, WHM, Main PLD Tank, other Tanks, and Bard. In that order.
* Keep Phalanx II up on all tanks.
* Help the WHM in your party heal, if necessary.
* Keep the mobs off your WHM, even if you have to tank one yourself.
* Perform 'sleeps' and 'silence' on mobs when needed.
Black Mage Party RDM/BLM:
* Cast "Sleep' and 'Silence' **
* Refresh self, all BLM's and Bard
* Help the WHM's heal - keep an eye out for Tanks.
* Nuke when you have MP.
DD Party RDM/??: Here is a time where you can probably take your choice of subjobs. Be it /war, /whm, /blm, /drk, /rng, /smn... whatever.
* Refresh self, Healer (could be yourself here), and anyone else with mp.
* Help the WHM's heal - keep an eye out for Tanks.
* Cast "Sleep' and 'Silence' and/or 'Stun' **
* Nuke when you have MP
* If you decide to sub /war for fun, make sure your LS leader knows you can tank those
statues to help out if we are short on tanks and pull mobs off of BLM's that get
NUKE-happy!!
* HAVE FUN!!!!
** I needed to be more specific. This info is for BLMs too. The following info should help:
When there is a link, what should be happening is that RDMs are at the front using Sleepga first. Then, after some time has passed and assuming the targets are all slept, RDMs and BLMs can use Sleep II and Sleepga II as needed to continue to keep things asleep. Sleepga II should never be the very first spell cast, especially in areas like cities where it's not as likely for your normal Sleepga to be resisted anyway.
This makes it so that:
- an enemy is incapacitated for up to 2-2.5 minutes (Sleep > Sleep II) instead of 1.5 minutes (Sleep II > Sleep II)
- a single BLM isn't the next target of multiple Vanguard/Kindred when they eventually wake up (which can also be helped by tanks getting hate on slept enemies, but assuming there are some that are missed for whatever reason)
- multiple BLMs aren't all using Sleepga II at once, which is wasteful during the recast period
- RDMs, along with other people casting Sleepga from a subjob or BRDs using Lullaby, are able to help BLMs more with crowd control (Sleepga/Lullaby will not always have no effect because another BLM landed Sleepga II right before)
WHITEMAGE
BLACKMAGE
The following is an exerpt I found directed to BLM's in a forum. It all makes sense from my experience, so I thought I'd share it here:1. Do not sub anything but WHM. There is no reason to sub anything but WHM. Subbing ANYTHING but WHM will NOT help you more than subbing WHM.
-Benefits to subbing WHM:
--You don't have to be a thorn in everyones back asking for -na spells every 10 seconds. You are completely self-sufficient.
--I hope you enjoy casting once every 2 mins, because if you sub anything but WHM in Xarcabard, that's how often you will be casting. You need to be able to erase the slow off yourself. It will affect your sleep recast time as well. Your sleep recast will be longer than 1 min 30 seconds, which is how long an unresisted sleepga II lasts.** Which makes you a very dead BLM.
--If you sub RDM, you are going to MPK everyone in the LS during timed nukes. When I call a time to nuke, if you're RDM sub, your nuke will go off before everyone else's, cause all the mobs to pop before your comrades nukes go off, and we'll have an alliance of dead BLM's. You can't gravity statues (not that you need to), so that's not a good enough excuse. You can cast fast enough to hit any statue coming after you without it, so that's not a good enough excuse either. This is not a debatable thing like different subjobs for PLD. If you sub anything but WHM, I'm not putting you into an alliance until you change. You're jeopardizing the run, and the safety of the other 35+ people there. We don't have the amount of BLM's to have some of you sub RDM and the rest sub WHM and do the timed nukes. So that's why EVERYONE needs to sub WHM.
2. I've noticed WAY TOO MANY BLM's nuking a statue, then just standing there and taking a facial from them instead of stunning them and running away. Those things run slower than grass grows. After you nuke it, stun it or run away, then begin casting your next nuke.
3. Cast sleepga II**. Your order of things to do when a huge pull comes should be:
-Take out all statues that are still waddling around
-Cast sleepga/sleepga II as necessary as other mobs wake up.**
Your job isn't only to nuke things, it's also to sleep things. **
4. Keep yourselves alive. I am guilty of not doing this. You have stoneskin/blink available to you, use it. If you're missing HP, heal yourself. If you're poisoned, poisona yourself. You may think you're being a trooper waddling around with 50hp casting burst II on stuff. If you're dead, you're not helping everyone. Taking the time to heal yourself to full will take 10 seconds, raising you and unweakaning will take more than 5 mins.
THEIF

NINJA
Ninja has to either pull or kite. The Ninja will kite the slow moving statue's until the BLM nukes them and destroy them while trying to get any hate possible off the mages. If there is nothing to kite then you may /asist the main tank in killing the mobs.Pull- the pull job is usually done with a THF. Ninja can if necessary. the puller will need to know what mob's do what. Which give hp/mp, what one will link, what one are NM, what will spawn extra mob's, in what order to pull and direction/path, and what one that give time.
You will have to keep the pt informed and listen to the leader for what is needed. ----- TYDUS
